SciFi and Fantasy Art: Olwen - Daughter of Yspaddaden PenkawrWeeeellll, long story short, this figurine was a commissioned piece for a company that soon appeared to be a fraud. Fortunately, I didn't sign anything so here it is :) Olwen from the Welsh Tales (Mabinogion) yound and fair lady, daughter of Yspaddaden Penkawr (litertally 'big head') and soon to be Culwch's wife. Olwen means 'white steps' because everywhere she went, white flowers were growing on her path.... Incidentally, I got one of the 'Jury choices' at GenCon ArtShow for this one :) (very happy, that's my first prize ever :p) Limited edition resin copies will be available by the end of August on my new site. I'm giving it a try this year, several figurines, white or painted or engraved .. etcetc... 180mm high - original in plaster and epoxy resin (Milliput not to name it) Tutorial on its way (I've got a few steps to document but I'm working on it... only 24 hours a day, y'know.. sigh) Drop a mail for any question :) ! | |

| 25 Jan 2005 | Quiet and shy | Yay! I've never seen a mods choice for a sculpture before, and seeing as I am a sculptor myself, this gets me quite excited. Yay again! | |

| 29 Jun 2006 | Lorraine Yund | That's spectacular! | |
| 17 Oct 2006 | Rachel Day | AAACK! No, that wasn't a scream of horror, it was a scream of amazement. That is exquisite. How can you make plaster have so much movement and delicacy? I can't even do that when sketching, and I can erase. | |
| 29 Oct 2007 | Simone 'Teleri' Bechtold | I really like your style in general, but this is.. awesome. I always envy people who are so confident at carving/modeling/just making things in 3D out of nearly nothing. Big respect. At the moment we translate the third branch of the Mabinogi (Manawydan uab Llyr, that is) from Welsh to German at university. If you ever come to the point modeling Riannon, tell me | |
| 6 Nov 2007 | Annemie Thijs | Wow - that's some dazzling detail over there. Only 18 centimeters high? Wow. I'd like this life-sized in my garden, if I had a garden. Excellent work! | |
